OUR HISTORY
Our long traditions within the Finnish maritime supplier’s date back almost 80 years, when the Finnish Ship Suppliers Association was first founded. The genuine history of FSSA has enabled the members to render a world class service, providing the Finnish quality at the highest level. Aligned with the leading companies of the industry globally.
What makes FSSA so exceptional is its long history within the maritime industry. FSSA has been around since 1946 and it was formed 9 years prior to its umbrella association that today functions as the international ship suppliers & services association (ISSA).
In the matter of fact FSSA played a key role in the establishment of ISSA, when consul Eric Liljefors, representative of FSSA, took part in the initiative to form ISSA in 1955. Since then, ISSA has had a close and successful cooperation with both the Finnish customs and Finnish authorities. Furthermore, it can be said that the Finnish customs have been the pioneer with building systems for both ship owners and ship supplying companies, regarding handling of goods and custom clearance.
